T20 World Cup 2026 Date: The upcoming ICC (International Cricket Council) will find its place yet again in the subcontinent as India and Sri Lanka will host the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup in 2026. India are the defending champion in the tournament as they will serve favourites to lift the title yet again. Notably, the current India T20I side led by Suryakumar Yadav has a winning percentage of 86.7 since the previous edition, which is higher than any other team.

There are eight venues in both countries which will host the tournament - Mumbai (1), New Delhi (1), Colombo (2), Kandy (1), Ahmedabad (1), Kolkata (1), Chennai (1).

India have been clubbed with Pakistan in the same group (A) along with the USA, Namibia and Netherlands. The arch-rivals India and Pakistan will play each other on February 15th.

T20 World Cup Groups:

Group A: India, USA, Namibia, Netherlands, Pakistan

Group B: Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman

Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy, Nepal

Group D: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, UAE

Group B has the co-hosts Sri Lanka facing challenges from Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman. Australia’s first match is against Ireland, while Zimbabwe’s return to World Cup action begins with a high-profile match against the hosts.

Group C, featuring another sub-continent team, Bangladesh, along with debutants Italy and Nepal, is headed by two-time champions England and the West Indies. On February 11, England is set to face off against the West Indies.

Group D is arguably the most challenging of the four, consisting of Afghanistan, South Africa, and New Zealand, the semifinalists from 2024.

The leading two teams from each group will move on to the Super Eight phase, which will be divided into two groups of four. Subsequently, the top two teams from each Super Eight group will progress to the semifinals, with the final scheduled for March 8 to crown the 2026 champion.
