T20 World Cup 2026: The Indian team is currently waiting for an update on Washington Sundar's fitness before the upcoming mega event and the reigning champions have got another huge blow on Wednesday as star fast bowler Harshit Rana was seen leaving the field midway in the warm-up match against South Africa at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy. He had bowled just one over, where he gave away 16 runs. He was seen limping on the ground post completing his first over.
He did look uncomfortable after he had bowled his first over, as he had pulled his bowling arm twice. He then held his knee, reeling in pain, and was taken off the field.
The BCCI hasn't revealed anything official about this. Sundar, who had sustained an injury against New Zealand, hasn't joined the national team yet for the mega event, and it will be interesting to see if he recovers in time.
Tilak Varma has finally recovered from an injury and also played in the warm-up match against South Africa and scored a brilliant knock of 45 runs, but then Marco Jansen took his wicket. Tilak also bowled over, giving away nine runs.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side won the match by 30 runs.
How did the warm-up match go?
India won the toss in the warm-up match against South Africa and chose to bat first. They posted a mammoth target of 240 runs. Ishan Kishan was the highest run-getter as he had scored 53 runs, whereas Axar Patel (35*), Suryakumar Yadav (30), and Hardik Pandya (30) also made significant contributions.

Abhishek Sharma took two wickets, whereas Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar took one wicket apiece and helped the team skittle the Proteas out for 210 runs.
The Men in Blue have been put in Group A for the mega event, along with teams like Pakistan, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA. The reigning champions will start their title defence on 7th February against the USA.
