T20 World Cup: India To Travel To Sri Lanka For Pakistan Game, Awaits Match Referee's Decision Despite PAK Boycott | Report

T20 World Cup: The Indian cricket team is set to stick to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) protocols following Pakistan's decision to boycott their group-stage match in the T20 World Cup 2026.

As per a report by ANI, Team India will travel to Sri Lanka, complete their scheduled practices, and await the match referee's decision.

"Team India will travel to Sri Lanka and follow ICC protocol. They will practice as per schedule, do a press conference and reach the stadium according to time and wait for the match referee to call off the match," a source told ANI.

Pakistan on Sunday officially announced its judgment to boycott the highly anticipated group-stage match against traditional rival India at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan government approved the team's participation in the tournament but said that they will not take the field against India.

“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026; however, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India," said the post by the Government of Pakistan.

The India vs Pakistan match is the crown jewel of ICC events, consistently drawing huge global audiences and lucrative sponsorship deals.

A Pakistan default would award India points, but the ICC can still impose financial penalties on the PCB.

Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign start on February 7 against the Netherlands, followed by matches against USA on February 10 and Namibia on February 18, all at Colombo's SSC ground.
