Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has responded positively to Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s request for help in getting land in his home state. Pant wants to shift his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand.

In a post on X early Saturday, Pant spoke about his difficulty in finding suitable land in Uttarakhand. The cricketer said he had been trying for a long time but had not been able to find a suitable place. He also spoke about his love for his home state.

“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand (sic),” he said in the post on X, which quickly caught the attention of social media users.

Pant suffered a life-threatening accident in 2022 while driving from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand. He received initial treatment in Dehradun before being airlifted to Mumbai for specialised treatment under the care of a specialist consultant appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Pant is currently with the Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series.

In his post, Pant described the process of buying land in Uttarakhand as a “nightmare” and asked the Chief Minister for help.

His post started casually with a message to Dhami: “hello sir how’s you ???”

“My humble request to us is please help me in land acquisition cause nowadays it had become nitemare (sic),” the wicketkeeper wrote.

He ended the post by saying: “Seriously didn’t know how to do it.”

Pant also said he had earlier been promised some land while promoting the state, but he had still not received any clear information about it.

The 28-year-old cricketer has expressed his desire to move back closer to his ‘Pahadi people’. His request caught the attention of Dhami, who replied separately and said he had asked officials to look into the matter.

The Chief Minister also praised Pant’s contribution and said it had “illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world.”

Uttarakhand is also known as Devbhoomi, or the Land of the Gods. The name comes from the state’s spiritual importance, as it is home to several important Hindu pilgrimage sites, including the four Dhams — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

“Your love for your motherland and your sentiment of returning here to contribute are highly commendable,” Dhami said in the post, which was originally written in Hindi.
