Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has once again proven to be one of the most exciting new talents in Indian cricket. He faced the Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj with extreme confidence in the Duleep Trophy final played on Sunday.

The young opener executed an extraordinary series of four, six and four on the bowling of Siraj at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, giving East Zone a great start against the South Zone.

WATCH: Sooryavanshi Takes On Siraj

In the seventh over, Sooryavanshi started with a cut shot which went through the point area for a four. Siraj delivered a fuller, but the teenager had the confidence to take on the delivery, clearing his front leg and hitting it over long-off for a gigantic six.

Siraj changed his angle and came over the wicket, but Sooryavanshi kept on the attack. Another fuller was in the right zone, and the teenager struck it clean over long-off for a boundary.

This trio of shots generated a total of 14 runs from the over, putting the spotlight on the youth's exceptional confidence while facing an experienced international bowler.

Siraj Put Under Pressure

Siraj, who had just played in India's recent two-Test series against Sri Lanka, could not get going in his opening spell. He completed his first five overs without a wicket and gave away 41 runs.

Sooryavanshi, however, kept going along with Abhimanyu Easwaran, with East Zone approaching a century for their opening partnership.

The player eventually fell six runs short of a half-century, with Chama V Milind taking his wicket in the 15th over after he had scored 44 runs off 37 balls, with five fours and three sixes according to the match scorecard.

Another Statement From Sooryavanshi

Even though Sooryavanshi failed to score a fifty, he did receive publicity as another chapter in his rise to fame. Already having been the player of the match in the semi-finals, the young lad entered the Duleep Trophy final with no fear in his heart.

And against Siraj, his message was unmistakable: age was no barrier to aggression. The 4-6-4 sequence quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the opening day, with Sooryavanshi once again showing that he is willing to take on even India's established stars.
