Star spinner Varun Chakravarthy made a big revelation on India's celebrations without the trophy after winning the Asia Cup 2025 title. India defeated Pakistan in the final to lift their record-extending ninth Asia Cup title.
While a massive controversy erupted during the post-match presentation ceremony with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) running away with the trophy, the Indian players came up with an interesting action as they mimicked a trophy lift on the podium anyway. The Indian team is yet to receive the trophy and the winners' medals.
Notably, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side conveyed the message that they won't be receiving a trophy from Naqvi, who made disrespectful remarks for India following the Pahalgam Terror Attack and the Operation Sindoor. In a bizarre turn of events at the Dubai International Stadium, the Indian team remained on the field even as the presentation ceremony collapsed.

Speaking at an awards ceremony, Varun Chakravarthy revealed that the idea for the impromptu celebration came from Arshdeep Singh.
"It was actually Arshdeep's idea. We were waiting for the trophy, but we all know how that turned out," Varun said.
"I was standing there, hoping the cup would show up — we were all waiting. But the only cup next to me was a coffee cup," he added with a laugh.

Sanju Samson, who received the Men’s T20I Batter of the Year award at the event, added more to Varun’s sentiments. He admitted it felt a bit odd to celebrate without a trophy in hand, but said the team spirit helped lift the mood.
"It was a bit strange, celebrating without the trophy. But we have a very positive environment in our dressing room. Even if we don’t have anything, we celebrate like we have everything. That’s exactly what we did," Samson said.
Taking a cheeky jibe at the PCB chairman and ACC chief Naqvi, Indian players posted the pictures and videos of celebrations on social media and used the trophy emoji to make them feel like actual silverware.
The Asia Cup 2025 was played in the middle of a massive controversy. The Indian players avoided shaking hands with Pakistani players during all three matches played between the arch-rivals. After the victory over Pakistan in their first face-off in the tournament on September 14, the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the win to the victims of the Pahalgam Terror Attack and the Indian Armed Forces.
A few controversial instances took place in and around the other two IND vs PAK matches that led to the escalation of tense relations between both nations, as well as between the cricketers of both countries.
