Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 Updates: Krunal Pandya is going through the best phase of cricketing career and has had a remarkable past few months. Having already represented India in two formats, Krunal continues to impress in white-ball cricket and produced an outstanding performance with the bat for Baroda against Hyderabad in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 on Wednesday.
Krunal, who played a major role in RCB's maiden IPL title win earlier this year, went on a rampage and smashed a fiery century to help Baroda post a massive total of 417/4 in their 50 overs after being put into bat first at the Sanosara Cricket Ground B in Rajkot. He played a memorable knock of unbeaten 109 runs in just 63 balls on the back of 18 fours and one six. He was the third player to score a century for Baroda against Hyderabad in the group B clash, as Nitya Pandya (122) and Amit Pasi also had magnificent outings.
Bhanu Punia provided the finishing touch with a 42-run cameo in just 27 balls as he smashed two fours and as many sixes during his stay at the crease.
Talking about Krunal, the star all-rounder has been in sublime form over the last week, having scored 57 and 82 against Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in the last two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier in 2025, Krunal won his fourth IPL trophy, his first with RCB and was adjudged as the Player of the Match in the final against the Punjab Kings. He took 17 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 22.29 and scored 109 runs on the back of two fifties.
The 34-year-old Krunal made his comeback during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but didn’t have any notable outings. He scored 63 runs and managed to take just three wickets.
Krunal burst onto the scene with his impactful performances during his time at the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He won IPL titles with the MI in 2017, 2019 and 2020. The senior Pandya went on to make his India debut in 2018 and has represented the Men in Blue in 5 ODIs and 19 T20I matches so far. While he couldn't replicate his all-round masterclass in the India shirt, Pandya was dropped from the national side, with his last appearance for the team coming in 2021 during an ODI match against Sri Lanka.
