Delhi vs Railways Match Updates, Vijay Hazare Trophy: Virat Kohli is not participating in the Delhi vs Railways match in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, as he was seen on the field on Tuesday. Railways won the toss and opted to bat first as Delhi aim to maintain their winning run. They headed into the match on the back of a dominating win over Services by 8 wickets in their previous fixture.

Rishabh Pant continues to lead Delhi in the premier 50-over tournament, which kicked off on December 24. The lineup of Delhi included the big names like Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni in the batting department, whereas Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini will take the responsibilities in the bowling department.

Delhi stand at the top of Group D in the Vijay Hazare Trophy points table with four wins and 16 points after five matches. While Virat played the first two matches for Delhi in the VHT, he was expected to return for the match against Railways as well, but he will continue to rest before joining the Indian camp ahead of the upcoming ODI series at home against New Zealand.

Why Virat Kohli Is Not Playing For Delhi Against Railways?

Virat was named in Delhi's squad for only the first two matches. In the first match against Andhra Pradesh, Virat produced a memorable effort of 131 runs in 101 on the back of 14 fours and three sixes before playing a fiery knock of 77 runs in the second game against Gujarat.

Having spent quality time with his family during a short break, Virat reportedly made himself available for the Railways game, but fans were left disappointed as soon as Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh confirmed that the senior Indian batter will not be in action. Virat's last outing against Railways didn't go as planned during the Ranji Trophy as Sangwan sent his stumps cartwheeling in the final red-ball match of his career.

The 37-year-old batter will next be seen in action during the three-match series against New Zealand, starting on January 11. He will be heading into the assignment on the back of a memorable outing against South Africa. He smashed two centuries and a fifty against the Proteas for his 302 runs and was adjudged as the Player of the Series.
