India National Cricket Team vs South Africa National Cricket Team Stats: India talismanic batter Virat Kohli continued to revel in his rich batting form as he scored his 53rd ODI hundred during the ongoing 2nd ODI against South Africa. The 53rd ODI century was his 84th in his entire international career. Notably, Kohli has already retired from Tests and T20Is. Courtesy of this stellar ton (102), India posted a massive 358 for 5 at the end of 50 overs.

The 37-year-old batter collected seven boundaries and 2 sixes in his knock.

1: Kohli became the only batter in history to score 53 ODI tons.

2: Kohli scored his second consecutive century in the series. His previous hundred (135) came in the 1st ODI in Ranchi.

3: Kohli has scored 10 hundreds vs SL, 9 vs WI, 8 vs AUS, and 7 vs SA. Only legendary Sachin Tendulkar has done it against multiple opponents - 9 vs AUS and 8 vs SL.

Batting at number three, Kohli walked in early once again and imposed himself on the South African bowlers in the manner only he can, dominating them with his wide range of strokes. He looked flawless against spinners as he rotated the strike at will.

Virat against South Africa in ODIs is a different beast, and that beast has gone notches above statistically against the Proteas. In 33 matches and 31 innings, Kohli has scored 1,741 runs at an average of 69.64 against the Proteas at a strike rate of 88.51, with seven centuries and eight fifties. 

Also, with this second successive ton in ODIs, this is the 11th instance when Kohli has had a streak of centuries in two or more successive ODI innings, with Proteas legend AB de Villiers being his distant rival with six such instances.

He has also had 13 different streaks of three or more successive innings with 50-plus scores in ODIs, the highest by any batter, and Rohit Sharma is second with 11 such streaks.
