Ranji Trophy 2025: India's star batter Virat Kohli has been included in Delhi's Ranji Trophy squad for their match against Saurashtra, which will be held next week, but Kohli's participation will depend on his availability. According to the Times of India, Kohli's name was always there in the squad but there was uncertainty around his availability.
He did sustain a sprain in his neck and also took an injection.
At the same time, Rishabh Pant would be playing for Delhi after a long time and won't be the captain of the squad. He had told the DDCA that he would be playing the matches just as a player as he didn't want to change the current captaincy for a match.

“Rishabh called me up on Friday morning and said that the selectors must continue with the existing captain. He doesn’t want to disturb the leadership group of the team for an odd match. He feels the existing captain must have had his ideas and knows the players in the team much better than him. There must be continuity. He will be there to guide the team on the field. It’s a great gesture from him and it shows he thinks of the team ahead of himself,” Rohan Jaitley, who is the DDCA President was quoted as saying.
There are high chances that Pant would be selected for the ODI series against England and the 2025 Champions Trophy as well and that's why he won't be playing in the next round of the Ranji Trophy. This is why Pant took this decision and informed the DDCA.
Ayush Badoni, who came in place of Himmat Singh has been leading the team from the front since November last year and will continue to do so.
Although the squad hasn't been made official but its quite clear that a huge contingent would be going to Rajkot later this week. The selectors have picked players from the U-23 category and will be released if they are not selected in the top 15.
This team is picked for Delhi's next two matches against Saurashtra and Railways. To qualify for matches, they will have to win their remaining two matches.
