"I have a lot of respect for him, his journey. His passion for fitness is something that I dearly follow myself and believe in a lot. So there's a lot to connect and hopefully, if he comes to India soon or I happen to be in a county where he is playing, we'll definitely catch up and chill out and maybe have a cup of coffee."
Kohli also recalled the recent instance when Djokovic and Steve Smith caught up at the Tennis court and had a bit of entertaining stuff by playing both cricket and tennis.
It is to be noted that, Djokovic acknowledged his virtual friendship with Kohli, having not met with him yet and he went on to admire all of his career and achievements.
"Virat Kohli and I have been texting a bit for a few years. We never got a chance to meet in person, but it was really an honor and a privilege to hear him speak nicely about me. I obviously admire all of his career and achievements. I started to play cricket, but I'm not very good at it. But I have a task to perfect my cricket skills before I come to India, and don't embarrass myself when I'm there," Djokovic had said in a video uploaded by Sony Sports Network.
He also is very keen to improve his cricketing skills before he visits India for only the second time in his life.
"I started to play cricket, obviously not good at it. Let's say I have a task to improve my cricketing skills before I get to India so that I don't embarrass myself," he added.
He also went on to mention his excitement to visit India soon while recalling his only trip during his childhood.
"I have been to India only once so far in my life. It was, I think, 10 or 11 years ago. I came to play an exhibition event in New Delhi for two days. It was a very short stay. So, I really hope that I will be able to come back in the near future, too, because I have a great desire, great wish to explore your beautiful country that has so much history, so much culture to offer to the world and spirituality as well. It's amazing," the 36-year-old continued.
