Just hours after India's disappointing T20I series loss to Ireland, Iceland Cricket grabbed attention with a humorous post aimed at India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

The cricket board took to X and jokingly said they had no interest in bringing Gambhir into their coaching setup. At the same time, they sarcastically praised him for guiding a strong Indian team to a series defeat against Ireland.

"We can confirm that we don't wish to add Gautam Gambhir to our coaching staff. He clearly has talent, though. To take those Indian players and deliver those results in Ireland takes truly remarkable gifts" the post reads.

The post quickly spread across social media and became a talking point among cricket fans.

India entered the two-match T20I series against Ireland just three months after successfully defending their T20 World Cup title. The Shreyas Iyer-led T20I side were expected to perform well but they failed against Ireland bowlers.

India lost the opening match in Belfast by 34 runs. In the second game, Ireland held their nerve and won by just one run in a rain-affected contest, completing a memorable 2-0 series victory.

Although India's bowlers put in decent performances in both matches, the batters failed to deliver when it mattered most.Captain Shreyas Iyer struggled to score runs, while T20 World Cup 2026 Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson also had a forgettable series.

With these two defeats, Iyer became only the second Indian captain to lose his first two T20I matches in charge. He will now be hoping to turn things around when India faces England in a five-match T20I series.

India will travel to England later this week. The first T20I will be played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on July 1, followed by matches at Old Trafford on July 4, Nottingham on July 7, Bristol on July 9, and Southampton on July 11.

Meanwhile, many fans are hoping to see 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi make his international debut. The young batter was included in India's squad for the Ireland series but did not get a chance to play either match.

After India's poor batting display in Ireland, calls for Vaibhav's inclusion have grown stronger. There is now a good chance that the teenage talent could make his India debut in the opening T20I against England on July 1.
