JE Sports Desk:  Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his reaction to the inclusion of young guns Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Indian test team.

The duo after having a remarkable season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for their respective teams and commendable display in domestic cricket have successfully received their maiden call to the Indian team for the longer format.

"So very happy for @ybj_19 (Yashasvi Jaiswal) & @Ruutu1331 (Ruturaj Gaikwad). Well deserved" Ashwin wrote on Twitter while congratulating his Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate Jaiswal and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ruturaj.

Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 innings for RR while Ruturaj smashed 590 runs in 15 innings he played in CSK's title-winning campaign.

The duo reportedly have replaced veteran Cheteshwar Pujara and Suryakumar Yadav in the Test side for the WI tour.

Talking about Ashwin, who wasn't part of the playing XI against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval, has retained his place in the Test team for the tour to West Indies.

Earlier, the world no.1 Test bowler Ashwin made a shocking revelation on India's current dressing room atmosphere where he mentioned that there is not a friendly atmosphere in the dressing room anymore.

“This is an era where everybody is a colleague. Once upon a time when cricket was played, all your teammates were friends. Now, they’re colleagues. There’s a big difference because here people are there to advance themselves and to stride ahead of another person sitting to your right or left,” Ashwin had said.

“In fact, I believe cricket gets better when you share it. It gets better when you understand another person’s technique and another person’s journey. But it doesn’t happen anywhere close to how much it must happen,” Ashwin added.

India's Test squad for WI tour:  Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini.
