West Indies cricket team vs Pakistan national cricket team match scorecard: Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Talat put up a show with the bat as Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 5 wickets in the first ODI match at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Saturday.

Pakistan continued their dominance in the ongoing white-ball assignment and have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Hasan Nawaz hit the winning boundary as Pakistan chased down the 281-run target with seven balls to spare. He emerged as a remarkable match-winner for the visitors.

Nawaz was the top run-getter for Pakistan as he played an incredible knock of unbeaten 63 runs in just 54 balls on the back of five boundaries and three sixes. He stitched a match-winning partnership with Hussain Talat for the sixth wicket. Hussain remained unbeaten at the other end, having provided impressive support with his contribution of 41 runs in 37 balls. He smashed four boundaries and a six.

Chasing the target, Pakistan were off to a disappointing start as young opener Saim Ayub (5) departed cheaply. Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam recovered things and stitched a promising partnership of 47 runs for the second wicket.

Shama Joseph provided the breakthrough for the hosts as he dismissed Shafique for 29. Babar was joined by skipper Rizwan in the middle and both the senior batters looked solid in the middle. They added 55 runs for the third wicket and seemed promising, and put pressure back on the West Indies bowlers.

Babar missed out on his fifty and was dismissed for 47 runs, which he scored with the help of five boundaries and a six. Salman Agha came up with a contribution of 23 runs. Rizwan ended up hitting his fifty and took the responsibility into his hands during his crucial stay at the crease.

However, Joseph struck again and took the crucial wicket of Rizwan, dismissing him for 53 in the 38th over. That was the last success the West Indies witnessed in the game. While the game was heading towards the hosts, Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Talat stepped up and took their side over the line.

Earlier, the West Indies posted a challenging total of 280 before they were bowled out in the 49 overs. Evin Lewis (60), skipper Shai Hope (55), and Roston Chase (53) smashed the half-centuries for the hosts. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he took four wickets for 51 runs, whereas Naseem Shah picked up three scalps.
