JE Sports Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill among others met with legendary West Indies all-rounder Garfield Sobers in Barbados ahead of the first Test in the Caribbean. India are scheduled to play two-match Test series against Windies, followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), head coach Rahul Dravid introduced Sobers to Men in Blue players. The veteran cricketer, who was accompanied by his wife, is among the most decorated player of West Indies to play cricket. Sobers had brief interactions with all Indian players beneath the 'Garfield Sobers Pavilion' named after him.

"In Barbados & in the company of greatness! Team India meet one of the greatest of the game - Sir Garfield Sobers," BCCI captioned the video.

"This is Shubman Gill. One of our most young and exciting batsmen," Rahul Dravid said while introducing the opener.

Earlier, Indian players had a beach volley session in Barbados after landing in the island nation. Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan, Ravichandran Ashwin and other players were seen enjoying the different ball game on white sand.

“We’re thankful for the team management to get two days for the boys to fight jetlag and we hit the ground running from tomorrow. We just had a light NEC recreation day and that’s about it,” India's strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai had said in the video.

India are scheduled to play a two-day match amongst themselves, with some local players joining them. The contingent will then move to Dominica for the first Test, starting on July 12.
