Malaysia women vs Thailand women, Women's Asia Cup 2024: Thailand women have defeated Malaysia women by 22 runs in match 3 of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Saturday, July 20.

Thailand have taken the top spot in the Group B points table after registering their first win of the tournament.

The low-scoring contest witnessed a remarkable bowling performance from Thailand as they restricted Malaysia to 111/8 in their 20 overs.

Wan Julia was the top run-getter for Malaysia as she smashed a fighting half-century, scoring 52 runs in 53 balls with the help of six boundaries.

Their skipper Winifred Duraisingam played a 22-run knock in 28 deliveries on the back of three fours.

Apart from that, no other batter to reach even the double figure mark.

For Thailand, Onnicha Kamchomphu was the pick of the bowlers for her two wickets for 20 runs in four overs whereas Chanida Sutthiruang, Nattaya Boochatham, Thipatcha Putthawong and Suleeporn Laomi took a wicket each.

Earlier, Thailand posted a total of 133/6 in their 20 overs after opting to bat first with N Koncharoenkai being their top scorer.

She scored 40 runs in 35 balls with the help of six boundaries whereas Phannita Maya played a 29-run innings. She smashed three fours.

Suwanan Khiaoto (14*) and Rosenan Kanoh (13*) stitched an unbeaten partnership of 22 runs for the seventh wicket and took their team to a challenging total despite putting up a disappointing performance with the bat.

Mahirah Izzati Ismail picked three wickets for Malaysia whereas Suabika Manivannan, Aisya Eleesa and their captain Winifred Duraisingam took a wicket each as well.

Thailand's wicketkeeper-batter N Koncharoenkai was adjudged as the Player of the Match for her crucial batting effort.

Thailand's next match will be up against Bangladesh women whereas Malaysia are scheduled to face Sri Lanka in Dambulla on Monday, July 22.
