WTC Points Table 2023-25: England have maintained their dominance at home as they defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the first Test at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday, August 24.

England have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, that too in the absence of their captain Ben Stokes.

They chased down the target of 205 runs in 57.2 overs for the loss of five wickets and wrapped things up in just four days despite a promising fight from the visitors.

With their fourth successive Test win in the past few weeks, England have made an improvement in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table.

They have jumped to the fifth position with 41.07 PCT%. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, which started the series at No. 4, has now dropped to No. 5 with 40.00 PCT%.

With England taking a jump in the standings, South Africa and Pakistan have now slipped to No. 6 and 7 positions, respectively.

Pakistan are currently engaged in a Test series against Bangladesh at home. They could drop below Bangladesh if the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side manages to get the better of them in the first Test on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma-led Indian team currently stands at the top of the points table. The two-time losing finalists have 68.52 PCT%, and they are followed by 2023 champions Australia, which have 62.50 PCT%.

Notably, India's last Test outing came in March during a five-match home series against England which they comfortably won 4-1.

They will return to action in the longest format next month. In the first series of the 2024–25 season at home, India will face Bangladesh in two Tests and then take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series.

After a couple of home assignments, India will travel to Australia for the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India and Australia will face off in an all-important five-match series which begins with the Perth Test from November 22 onwards.

Talking about England, they headed into the Sri Lanka Tests on the back of a 3-0 series win at home against West Indies.

They will be looking to seal the series against the Dhananjaya da Silva-led side when the two side will meet in the second Test at Lord's, starting on August 29.
