Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who was ignored by the BCCI Selection Committee for the Test squads, has opened up on his recent highly successful maiden county stint. Chahal said he wanted to show his worth with his prolific performance as India will be touring England for the five-match Test series next year in June.

The Indian leg spinner played four matches for Northamptonshire CCC and picked up 19 wickets at an average of 21.10. He was instrumental in both of the team’s wins this season.

The leg-spinner believes that his highly successful county stint with Northamptonshire will increase his chances of sealing a place in India's Test squad for the England tour.

"County cricket is tough cricket. It gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills against a very good standard of cricket. With India touring England next year, I wanted to show how good I am," Chahal told TOI.

Besides his passion for performing well, Chahal is dynamic about helping the next generation globally.

"Firstly, I am very grateful to Brindon sir who gave me an opportunity to play in County cricket, and then the Rajasthan Royal's coaches introduced me to Krish Patel, a highly-educated 18-year-old cricketer who is thought to have a very bright future in the game. I want to see him play internationally and if I can help, I am always there," Chahal said.
