In a bid to elevate passenger experience, Air India has planned to make its own lounge, the Maharaja Lounge, its first flagship lounge at the airport. The move aims to upgrade its services offered to the passengers and offer premium services to the flyers.
According to a report by NDTV, the lounger will be operational for the public from February 16, 2026. The lounge is situated in the international section of Terminal 3, spanning approximately 16,000 square feet. As per the aircraft officials, the lounge has been made after incorporating contemporary elements from Indian art and cultural motifs. The project has been developed in collaboration with global design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates.

Who All Can Access The Lounge?
Flyers who have their tickets booked in the first and business classes can access the lounge. Additionally, the Maharaja Gold and Platinum members are also eligible to access the lounge, as are eligible Star Alliance Gold travellers.

The Maharaja Lounge: Features
Bar Area: The bar is inspired by the early chapters of Air India’s aviation history, including JRD Tata’s 1932 Karachi to Bombay flight. The ceiling design reflects the propeller of the former Puss Moth aircraft.
Study Area: The lounge has a reading and working area with bookshelves, workspaces, high-speed internet and multiple charging points.
Resting Area: The lounge has a dimly lit area with recliners for travellers who wish to rest during the layovers.
First Class Area: The First Class area, with a view of the tarmac from the adjoining seating and dining section, includes a wide variety of champagnes and a list of expensive cocktails.
Sleeping Area: There are separate suites designed for passengers who want a short period of rest before boarding long flights.
Food: The lounge will serve both Indian and international dishes, including live cooking stations. A mobile beverage counter and a freshly brewed tea counter served on trolleys will also be available for passengers
Souvenirs: Specially designed Maharaja postcards will also be available for travellers who wish to take home a small souvenir.
