Delhi Blast: Day after a car exploded near Red Fort Metro station in Delhi, the first image of the suspect, identified as Dr Umar Mohammad, has emerged. Umar was reportedly the owner of the white Hyundai i20 car, in which the explosion took place. Nine people were killed and 20 others injured in the massive blast that shook Delhi on Monday evening. While 19 injured have been admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital, one injured person is at the trauma centre at Kashmiri Gate.

The explosion, which occurred amid an ongoing crackdown against terrorists, also caused significant property damage. Six nearby vehicles were destroyed, and more than 20 other vehicles were damaged.

Preliminary Investigation And Suspect

A photo of a suspect has emerged in connection with the blast. Based on a preliminary investigation, the police have concluded the incident was carried out by a suicide bomber, identified as Umar.

Key details from the investigation:

Suspect: Umar, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, is believed to have been alone in the i20 car when he carried out the attack.

Vehicle: The car was reportedly purchased by Umar 10 days ago from a resident of Faridabad. The investigation shows the car had been sold twice previously.

Connections: Authorities are confirming a "Faridabad and Pulwama connection" in the blast.

Official Response And Investigation

The Special Cell, National Security Guard (NSG), police, and all central agencies are actively engaged in the investigation.

Police Commissioner Satish Golcha assessed the scene before briefing Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the entire situation. Following the briefing, Home Minister Shah first visited the injured at Lok Nayak Hospital and then went to inspect the scene of the incident.
