Delhi Blast: Faridabad Police have seized a red Ford EcoSport (DL 10 CK 0458), which is suspected to be linked to Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect in the Delhi blast case. Investigators believe the car may have been acquired using forged documents, raising suspicions that false ownership papers were used to mask the vehicle’s connection to the attacks.
Following fresh leads, Delhi Police intensified their investigation and conducted a raid at an address in the New Seelampur area of northeast Delhi. The operation was based on information connected to the red Ford EcoSport, believed to be involved in the explosions. Reports indicate that two vehicles not one were used in carrying out the attack.
According to police sources, the car’s registration records traced back to an address in Seelampur. The vehicle was registered in the name of Dr. Umar Un Nabi, but investigators suspect that forged documents were used for its purchase. During the raid, police teams examined ownership details and related paperwork.
Mohammad Tasavvur, the imam who operates a madrasa at the same address, confirmed that the police questioned him and confiscated his mobile phone for examination. “We have always followed the law and are fully cooperating with the investigation. The police must reach those truly responsible,” he said.
Sources further revealed that prior to the car blast on Monday evening, Umar Nabi stayed at a mosque on Asaf Ali Road near Ramlila Maidan. After leaving the mosque, he drove directly to the Sunehri Masjid parking lot, where he parked his car at around 3:19 pm. Investigative agencies are now analyzing Umar Nabi’s mobile phone records and signal history as part of the ongoing probe.
Delhi Police had earlier issued an alert for the red Ford EcoSport car. The vehicle is registered in the name of Umar Un Nabi. Delhi Police had also shared the car's details with the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police, a senior official said.
Delhi Police had alerted all police stations, police posts, and border checkpoints in the national capital have been alerted to look out and search for red colour Ford Eco Sport car, following an investigation which revealed that the suspects had another car in addition to the Hyundai i20.
The National Investigation Agency is likely to visit Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad's Dhouj as part of its extensive probe into the Delhi car blast case, involving the involvement of a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module.
The DNA samples of mother and brother of Dr Umar Navi Bhat, suspected to be involved in the Delhi blast, have been collected and sent to the AIIMS forensic laboratory for further analysis. These samples will be matched with the remains of the bodies kept at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi.
According to Delhi Police sources, the suspect, Umar, was also seen with the i20 on the Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, after which he was heading towards Delhi. Investigating agencies are investigating the vehicle's movement.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has constituted a "dedicated and comprehensive" investigation team to probe the recent Delhi car blast incident, a terrorist attack executed by a Jaish-e-Mohammad module unearthed by Indian agencies, top sources said.
