During a grand ceremony at Thyagaraj Stadium, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched several new development projects for Delhi, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday as part of the "Seva Pakhwada" (service fortnight). The event showcased various development schemes worth over Rs 1,600 crore, focusing on public safety, infrastructure, health and social welfare.

Key Initiatives And Inaugurations

Public Safety: Amit Shah handed over 75 indigenously built drones to the Delhi Police. These drones, developed by female engineers from the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, will be used to enhance security and surveillance in the city.

Infrastructure And Environment: The Home Minister laid the foundation stone for two new waste-to-energy plants. One plant, with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes, will be built in the Narela-Bawana area, while another will be established in Okhla. These projects are a significant step toward making Delhi cleaner and are expected to contribute to energy production.

Health and Social Welfare: Several health facilities were inaugurated, including new blocks in five hospitals, 101 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and 150 dialysis machines. Additionally, 10 therapeutic centers for children with special needs and the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens' Home were opened. The event also saw the inauguration of a new hostel for female students with disabilities and the launch of new pension registrations for 50,000 elderly citizens.

Chief Minister's Remarks

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised the central government's cooperation, stating that the capital has received unwavering support for its development projects, regardless of which party is in power. She contrasted this approach with previous governments, which she said only offered criticism. Gupta highlighted major central-backed projects such as the Rs 1.25 lakh crore highway, the cleaning of the Yamuna River and the expansion of the Metro and Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS).

Gupta emphasised Prime Minister Modi's view of power as a means of public service, which is why his birthday is celebrated as a "Seva Pakhwada." She announced that the Delhi government would also observe the fortnight by launching 75 new schemes. The Chief Minister concluded by stating that these projects signal a new chapter for Delhi, aligning it with the vision of a developed India.
