The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has appealed to the central government to permit Sikh pilgrims to visit Sri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan for the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon stated that the government has denied permission for the pilgrimage due to security concerns. While acknowledging these concerns, they emphasised that the government should also consider the deep faith of the pilgrims. They argued that if India and Pakistan can hold cricket matches, there should be no reason to prevent pilgrims from visiting a holy site associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The DSGMC has proposed a shorter visit of five days instead of the usual ten, and a reduction in the number of pilgrims, to address the government's security concerns. A letter has also been sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting permission for the pilgrimage to take place from November 2 to November 6.
