Following the blast in Old Delhi on November 10, the Delhi Police has taken extensive measures to increase security in the entire area of the Red Fort and its surroundings. To further bolster security arrangements, 120 new CCTV cameras have been installed.
Of these, 100 cameras have been installed in the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and nearby markets, while 20 cameras are monitoring all key entry and exit points of the Red Fort's car park. According to the police, these cameras are equipped with a system featuring advanced video analytics and facial recognition technology (FRT), which is linked to a large criminal database and will assist in identifying suspects.
In addition, the police have begun providing special training to car park attendants to enable them to identify unclaimed vehicles, suspicious activities, and unusually parked cars, and to alert the police immediately.
According to Deputy Commissioner Raja Banthia, an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system has also been integrated, which will allow for the immediate detection of stolen or suspicious vehicles. Technologies to identify intrusion attempts and track suspicious objects have also been incorporated into this security system, transforming the entire area into a high-security zone.
Previously, there were already 630 cameras in the vicinity of the Red Fort. The police have also deployed a minibus equipped with facial recognition to enhance mobile surveillance capabilities. This minibus continuously scans the area, and if a person with a criminal record is detected, the system immediately sends an alert to the police.
To bolster security, the number of police personnel stationed at the Red Fort police post has been increased from 17 to 35 to ensure a swift on-site response. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the police have discussed measures to enhance security with local market welfare associations.

In the area, 150 cases have been filed related to cleanliness and the removal of illegal encroachments.
Furthermore, 509 FIRs have been filed for failure to verify tenants and domestic staff, to ensure security and accountability throughout the city. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has also been instructed to inspect and clean the drainage system in and around the Red Fort to mitigate any potential security risks.
