Students at DTU (Delhi Technological University) have developed an AI-based online and offline video class platform that will reduce dependence on software from foreign companies like Zoom or Google Meet, and allow classrooms to be monitored using AI technology. Teachers will be freed from the hassle of taking each student's attendance. 

The teacher simply needs to take a photo of the students present in the class with their mobile phone. The attendance of all students within the photo frame will be marked instantly. 

Additionally, every student in the classroom can be monitored, and those using mobile phones or talking during lessons will be identified. This software works in real-time and can handle a large number of users. DTU is preparing to implement this AI-based monitoring system on its campus.

Notably, this online monitoring system has been developed by DTU's own students. In both online and offline classes, attendance can be registered through facial recognition and Bluetooth. 

DTU's online video class platform recently secured first place in the Smart India Hackathon and also received a prize of Rs 1,50,000. Encouraged by the software created by its students, the DTU administration has given its approval in principle for its use. It is expected that the platform will soon be used in some classrooms on a trial basis. 

Six DTU students have developed the AI-based online and offline video class platform. The team leader, Aryan Sood, explained that they have created student attendance and classroom monitoring software for educational institutions. 

Attendance can be taken in two ways: via an ESP32 device using Bluetooth and facial recognition, to prevent fraudulent attendance. All attendance, activity, and class-related data will be displayed to teachers and administrators on a single dashboard. The system works in real-time and can also handle a large number of users. 

Aryan stated that the software will monitor the activities of students and teachers. Students using mobile phones and talking during class will be identified. Student engagement can be checked by sending intermittent pop-ups. Separate apps have been created for teachers and students. This project is currently being implemented in its initial phase at DTU.

The team that developed the software included Shubhank Gupta, Rudransh Singh Rathore, Aarushi Anand, Vivan Jain, and Aarat Chadha. The software, developed by the Artificial Intelligence Mechanical Learning Society, will save teachers' time. 

With this software, the problems faced by teachers during online and offline classes will be largely eliminated. Taking the attendance of each student in every class takes a lot of time. This software will save teachers' time. Attendance will become more accurate and clear. 

Many students often get busy with other tasks after joining an online class. Such students can be identified through intermittent pop-ups. After some formalities, it will first be launched on a trial basis. Afterwards, it can be implemented in all university classes, said Professor Dinesh Vishwakarma, Head of Department, Information Technology Department, DTU.
