Delhi Air Pollution: The national capital’s air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 389 at 8 am, as dense fog enveloped the city, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Several stations recorded ‘severe’ air quality, including Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk and Dwarka Sector 8, while rehearsals for the 2026 Republic Day parade were underway at Kartavya Path in Delhi.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the general visibility at 6:30 am on Monday stood at just 350 metres. In its forecast bulletin, the department said very dense to dense fog conditions are likely to persist during night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and western Uttar Pradesh until December 31, and over eastern Uttar Pradesh until January 1, before gradually easing.

Delhi Weather Update

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said minimum temperatures are expected to remain near normal for the next three days and may increase slightly from January 1. Daytime temperatures are likely to stay above normal, with light rain predicted on January 1. On Monday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 8.3 Degree Celsius, around two degrees above normal, while the maximum touched 20.3 Degree Celsius.
