Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday (November 18), with the AQI touching 341 at 6 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The figure shows only a marginal improvement from Monday’s AQI of 360 and Sunday’s 377, as stronger winds of around 15 km/hr on Sunday helped slightly disperse pollutants.
On Tuesday morning, air quality levels varied across stations, five reported “poor” air quality, two showed “moderate” levels, while three locations continued to record AQI readings above 400.
Wazirpur and Bawana remained in the ‘severe’ category, with AQI levels of 410 and 419 respectively, while Jahangirpuri also breached the 400 mark at 414.
Delhi-NCR AQI
The air quality in several NCR cities remained alarming on Tuesday morning. At 7 a.m., Gurgaon recorded an AQI of 411, while Faridabad and Meerut touched 443, indicating severely polluted conditions. Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Noida reported extremely high AQI levels at 554, 558, and 469, respectively. In Delhi, NSIT Dwarka logged an AQI of 225, falling in the ‘poor’ category.
Neighbouring NCR cities showed little relief. Ghaziabad remained the most polluted with an AQI of 395, followed by Greater Noida at 386 and Noida at 361, all in the ‘very poor’ category. Faridabad (247) and Gurugram (260), meanwhile, recorded ‘poor’ air quality levels.
Area-Wise AQI In Delhi
Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 381 on Tuesday, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Across Delhi, six monitoring stations registered AQI levels above 400, indicating ‘severe’ air pollution. These included Bawana (427), DTU (403), Jahangirpuri (407), Narela (406), Rohini (404) and Wazirpur (401).
Several other major locations reported AQI readings between 337 and 396, also falling in the ‘very poor’ range. These included Alipur (386), Anand Vihar (384), Ashok Vihar (392), Chandni Chowk (383), ITO (394), Lodhi Road (337), Mundka (396), Nehru Nagar (389) and Sirifort (368).
Delhi Weather
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 9°C and a maximum of 25°C on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, pollution levels may rise slightly on days with low wind speed. A cold wave to severe cold wave is expected on November 18 and 19, while fog is likely to increase gradually across rural areas of Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
