Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a orange alert as Delhi continues to witness a thick blanket of fog for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, with a partly cloudy sky, moderate fog at many places and dense fog at isolated locations during morning hours. Delhi airport also issued an advisory, stating that due to dense fog, flight operations are being conducted under CAT III conditions. 

This follows Delhi recording its coldest February day in the past four years on Monday. According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to range from 7 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Airport Advisory 

Delhi airport issued an advisory stating that due to dense fog, flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions, which may lead to delays. Passengers have been advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates or visit the airport’s official website, while assuring that on-ground officials are available across all terminals to provide necessary assistance.

Delhi Weather Forecast

From 3 to 5 February, the sky will remain partly cloudy, with shallow to moderate fog at many places during morning hours and dense fog at isolated locations, especially on 3 February. Surface winds will generally be northwesterly to northerly, light to moderate (0-10 kmph), with temperatures around 19-22 degree celsius (night) and 7-10 degree celsius (day).

On 5 February, strong surface winds are expected during the day, with speeds of around 20-30 kmph, while morning hours may still see shallow to moderate fog. Temperatures will remain near normal with partly cloudy conditions.

On 6 February, partly cloudy weather is likely with morning fog ranging from shallow to moderate. Winds will increase further, mainly northwesterly, becoming moderate to strong (10-25 kmph), with temperatures around 21-23 degree celsius (night) and 8-10 degree celsius (day).

From 7 to 8 February, partly cloudy skies will persist with reduced fog intensity during mornings. Winds will remain northwesterly, varying from light to moderate (0-15 kmph), while temperatures may slightly rise, with night temperatures around 22-24 degree celsius and day temperatures near 9-11 degree celsius.

Delhi Air Pollution

The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the poor category at 256 at 7 am on Tuesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Meanwhile, several other stations recorded very poor air quality, with AQI levels ranging between 200 and 300.

Greater Noida recorded an AQI of 228, Noida 301, Gurugram 269, Faridabad 211, Ghaziabad 332, and Muzaffarnagar 157.

Among Delhi stations, Anand Vihar recorded 334, Jahangirpuri 333, Wazirpur 316, Chandni Chowk 324, Nehru Nagar 329, Patparganj 301, Rohini 281, RK Puram 300, IGI Airport (T3) 151, IIT Delhi 179, Dwarka Sector-8 293, Narela 168, Punjabi Bagh 295, Shadipur 286, and ITO 248.
