Delhi Weather Update: Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) continued to battle severe cold conditions on Tuesday, December 30, as a chilling cold wave and a thick blanket of dense fog paralysed parts of the city. Prompting this, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the national capital, warning of "very dense fog" during the early morning and "dense fog" extending into the forenoon.
Adding to the weather woes, Delhi’s air quality remained in the very poor category with an AQI of 384, prompting authorities to advise residents to limit outdoor activities.

A thick blanket of "dense to very dense fog" has enveloped the national capital, significantly impacting visibility and disrupting road, rail, and air travel. In view of adverse weather conditions, the weather department has issued an orange alert for Delhi, warning of dense to very dense fog during the early morning hours and dense fog during the forenoon today.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday, warning that dense fog will continue during the early morning hours. While skies will remain partly cloudy until mid-week, severe cold conditions and plunging temperatures will persist over the next two days.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 22 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will settle near 7 degrees Celsius. Visibility concerns are expected to loom across Delhi-NCR, including south and east Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the early morning and late-night hours and drive cautiously during fog conditions.
Delhi Weather Forecast: Will It Rain On New Year’s Day?
Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are expected to face a combination of fog, cold, pollution and rain on New Year’s Day, with experts predicting cloudy skies for the evening of December 31. The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies, with a possibility of light rain or drizzle on January 1.
Authorities have advised residents to plan their travel and celebrations with extra care to avoid inconvenience.
