The ISC team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested the main accused behind a fake recruitment agency in a major success for the unit. The accused, Imran Khan, a resident of Matiala village in Uttam Nagar, was operating the fraudulent agency under the name IK Manpower Services Private Limited.

The agency, which had no valid registration with the Ministry of External Affairs or the Ministry of Labour, was run from an office in NangliJalib, near the Janakpuri East Metro Station. During a raid, police recovered 148 passports (145 belonging to Indian citizens and 3 to Nepali citizens), along with several incriminating documents and other evidence. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 420 of the IPC, Section 12 of the Passports Act, and Section 24 of the Emigration Act, 1983.

The police action was initiated following a complaint from a victim who alleged that Imran Khan had defrauded them of Rs 75,000 under the pretext of securing a job abroad. The victim was sent to Kuwait, where they became stranded before being repatriated with the assistance of the Indian Embassy.

Based on the complaint, the Crime Branch formed a team under the supervision of ACP Ramesh Lamba, led by Inspector SatenderPunia and Inspector Sohanlal. The team also included SI Neeraj, Rakesh, Rakesh Sharma, and Sanjay; Head Constables Ashok, Ravinder, Vikram, and Dalveer; and Constables Ravi and Ankit. Acting swiftly, the team raided the agency's office, arresting Imran Khan and finding nine tele-callers working with him.

During interrogation, Imran revealed his modus operandi, he used social media and online advertisements to lure people with promises of jobs in Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Iran and Iraq. When interested individuals called, his tele-callers would entrap them in conversation, extort money, collect their passports and then send them abroad illegally.

Imran Khan, who has studied up to the BSc level, comes from a modest background. He reportedly fell into bad company and entered the business of fraud, which led him to start the fake agency.
