The long-neglected Pankha Road, a major section of Delhi’s Outer Ring Road, is set for a complete facelift under a Rs 5.5 crore beautification project.

The initiative, inaugurated on Sunday by state Education Minister and local MLA Ashish Sood along with MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, includes the construction of a new RCC drain, toe walls with iron grills, and footpaths on both sides of the road. Streetlights will be installed, while greening and landscaping work will be carried out on adjoining service lanes.

Minister Ashish Sood said that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, long-standing demands of Janakpuri residents are being addressed. He emphasised that the project aims to resolve issues of filth, waterlogging, broken roads, and stray animals that have troubled commuters and locals in Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Uttam Nagar, Najafgarh, and Nangloi.

Officials said the development will soon provide residents with cleaner surroundings and a safer, more attractive road, with the government determined to turn Pankha Road into one of Delhi’s finest stretches.
