Delhi Diwali Celebrations: The Delhi Fire Services received more than 269 calls about fire incidents during Diwali celebrations on Monday as people in the capital city resorted to bursting firecrackers after years, following relaxation by the Supreme Court. However, the data may increase as the number of incidents is expected to continue to come in till the wee hours.

A senior DFS officer said the department remained on high alert throughout the festival, with all fire stations and quick response teams deployed across the city.

"We received 269 fire calls till midnight. Fortunately, no major incidents were reported," the officer said. Most of the calls were related to minor blazes caused by firecrackers and diyas.

The DFS had earlier cancelled all leaves of its staff and ensured that all vehicles and fire-fighting equipment were checked and kept ready for prompt response. The officer said detailed planning had been done in advance to ensure public safety during the festive period.

Here Are The Major Fire Incidents Reported In Delhi

- A massive fire broke out at a shoe manufacturing factory at Narela in Outer Delhi on Monday evening. Soon after receiving the call, fire brigade officials rushed to Narela DSIIDC Industrial Area and doused the fire.

- A fire also broke out at a cardboard manufacturing factory in the Bhorgarh Industrial Area, Phase 2 of Narela in Delhi. The Delhi Fire Service doused the fire immediately after reaching the spot. 26 fire tenders were deployed to the scene, which helped in bringing the fire under control, said Fire Officer SK Dua. "Delhi Fire Service received a call regarding the fire incident at the cardboard manufacturing factory in Bhorgarh Industrial Area Phase 2 in Narela. 26 fire tenders are present at the spot. The fire has been controlled," he added.

- Seven people were rescued after fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Delhi's Mohan Garden, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said. A call regarding fire breaking out on the first and second floor of the building was received at 10 pm on Monday

- A fire broke out in Sant Nagar, East of Kailash during Diwali, damaging several vehicles, prompting fire brigade officials to launch a dousing operation.
