Republic Day Parade 2026: The 77th Republic Day is fast approaching, and preparations for the grand celebrations are in full swing at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Tens of thousands of people from all walks of life will gather to witness the event as special guests. The parade will feature a blend of India’s cultural heritage, military strength, and historical legacy.
This year, 30 tableaux representing 17 states and Union Territories, along with 13 ministries and departments, will roll down Kartavya Path. Nearly 2,500 artists will participate, showcasing vibrant cultural performances. Seven marching contingents from the Indian Army, including the animal contingent, will march past the saluting dais.
Eighteen marching contingents from the Army, along with 13 military bands, will also be part of the procession. For the first time, the Army will display a Battle Array Format, highlighting its strategic might. In addition, 29 aircraft from the Armed Forces, including Rafale, Su-30, MiG-29, Apache, and C-295, will perform spectacular formations during the aerial display.
The central theme of this year’s parade is “150 Years of Vande Mataram.” The tableaux will reflect two key themes: “Swatantrata ka Mantra - Vande Mataram” and “Samriddhi ka Mantra Atmanirbhar Bharat.” President Droupadi Murmu will make her way to Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during the grand march past, which will feature contingents from the Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, the NCC, and NSS.
The states and Union Territories presenting their tableaux this year include Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab.
Additionally, ministries such as the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Home Affairs (NDMA-NDRF), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (CPWD), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Power, and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will also showcase their tableaux.
However, several major states and Union Territories will not be participating in the tableaux this year. These include Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Goa, Delhi, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.
Delhi, which has featured in the tableaux seven times over the past two decades, was not selected this year. According to Jagran.com report, It is said that a screening committee under the Ministry of Defence follows a detailed process to select participants for the parade.

In addition, a rotation policy has been implemented for the past two years to ensure that all states and Union Territories have an opportunity to participate over time.
