A wanted criminal was arrested by the North West District Police late night on Thursday after a dramatic shootout in Outer Delhi. The encounter with the suspect, identified as Guddu, took place around 1 am along the Munak Canal near AU Block. A Head Constable’s life was saved by his bulletproof vest during the exchange of fire.

According to police, a team led by Sub-Inspector Sumit Kalkala cornered the suspect and ordered him to surrender. Guddu attempted to flee and, despite clear warnings, drew a country-made pistol, firing at Head Constable Narsi Ram. The bullet struck the officer’s bulletproof vest, leaving him unharmed. In retaliation, Head Constable Satya Narendra first fired a warning shot into the air before shooting Guddu in the right leg, leading to his capture.

Who Is Guddu? 

The arrested 23-year-old man, Guddu, is son of Mohanlal. He is a known criminal with a history of serious offenses. Police stated he has approximately six prior cases against him for crimes including dacoity, rape, and attempted murder. He was also a suspect in a recent murder in the Shalimar Bagh area and had only recently been released from prison.

Guddu was immediately taken to BJRM Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police recovered a pistol, one live cartridge, and a spent cartridge case from the scene.
