Maa Durga, the divine mother who represents strength, bravery and protection, is at the heart of the Navratri festival, which honours the triumph of good over evil. According to Hindu mythology, when the demon Mahishasura became unbeatable and began to plague both heaven and earth, all of the gods united their powers to create Maa Durga, the ultimate goddess.
