BCCI Election: Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) seasoned administrators and key decision makers held an informal meeting on Saturday to finalise candidates for the vacant board posts ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28.

According to Dainik Jagran's senior journalist Abhishek Tripathi, those whose names were considered were called for a meeting. Former cricketer Mithun Manhas, who hails from the Jammu Cricket Association, will be the BCCI president, while Rajeev Shukla will continue in his old position as vice-president.

Who Is Mithun Manhas?

Mithun Manhas, who was born on October 12, 1979, in Jammu and Kashmir, was a dependable player in the Indian domestic circuit. Notably, he was never a part of the national team but Manhas was a versatile cricketer for Delhi, batting right-handed.

Manhas used to lead Delhi as captain when big players were away on national duty. Notably, he was at the helm when Virat Kohli made his debut for the team.

Over 18 years in first-class cricket, Manhas featured in 157 matches and accumulated an impressive 9,714 runs at an average of 45.82. His notable achievements including 27 centuries and 49 half-centuries.

Appointment On The Remaining Posts

Meanwhile, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Raghuram Bhat is expected to become treasurer. Former India spinner Bhat's term as KSCA president ends on September 30. Devjit Saikia will continue as secretary, while Prabhtej Bhatia may become joint secretary.

Arun Singh Dhumal is expected to remain IPL chairman again. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been sent to the AGM as the Punjab Cricket Association's representative, was not part of the meeting.

Big Responsibilities On Ojha And RP Singh

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Pragyan Ojha will replace S. Sharath in the national senior selection committee. Sharath will be appointed the new chairman of the junior selection committee, replacing VS Tilak Naidu. Former fast bowler RP Singh will replace Subroto Banerjee. The new selection committees will take office on September 28.
