Hicky's Bengal Gazette newspaper is still known for its firm stand against the British East India Company and its functionaries. The newspaper never feared publishing about concerning issues like corruption, challenging authorities, and becoming a voice for Indians. Hicky's Bengal Gazette was the initial example of press freedom for Indians. As expected, Hicky continued bold questions about the colonial authorities, which ultimately resulted in the end of Hicky's Bengal Gazette in 1782. Hicky's fearless stand paved the way for the modern and fearless press, which is the foundation of a democratic country.
