Jammu Schools To Re-Open On September 10: The Directorate of School Education Jammu has ordered all the schools and educational institutes to re-open for offline classes from September 20, 2025. The schools were closed in the Jammu district because of heavy rains, landslides and flood-like situations. Nearly two Jammu schools have been instructed to prepare for reopening from September 10, 2025.
School heads must conduct comprehensive safety audits and ensure buildings are secure before reopening. School heads and staff members are required to return to their duties and responsibilities immediately and carry out safety inspections of school premises.
Damage and Disruption:
Since August 26, 2025 Jammu has been going through intense rainfall that triggered flash floods and landslides in the state, severely impacting infrastructure and access roads. Schools have remained closed throughout this period to ensure the safety of students, staff members and allow time for assessment and repairs.
Official Notice:
The Directorate has released a notification with guidelines for reopening of the schools. The order requires all school heads and staff to report for duty on Monday and conduct classes safely. ‘The concerned chief education officers shall monitor day-to-day activities and submit a detailed report to this office. All concerned are hereby directed to ensure timely compliance of the instructions.; the notification mentioned.
The administration and government of Jammu has set up 15 lodgement-cum-relief camps in the district to ensure help and safety, accommodating more than 650 people and providing them basic facilities like food, water and medical treatments.
