Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that students in both Class 10 and Class 12 will no longer be obligated to take their Board Exams twice a year. In an interview with the news agency PTI, the education minister stated that board students will be able to opt for the board exams based on their wish and feasibility. Addressing the issue of student stress, he explained that the introduction of biannual board exams aims to provide students with an extended opportunity beyond the traditional single board exam. Students will have the option to participate in both board exams if they so desire, and they will also be able to carry forward their higher scores from either exam for their future academic pursuits.

“Appearing for class 10, 12 board exams twice a year will not be mandatory for students. It will be completely optional and the main objective is to reduce their stress caused by the fear of single opportunity," Dharmendra Pradhan said as quoted by the news agency PTI.

According to the Ministry of Education’s new curriculum framework, students in classes 11 and 12 will now be required to study two languages instead of one. “Board exams will be offered at least twice a year to ensure students have enough time and opportunity to perform well. Students can then appear for a board exam in subjects they have completed and feel ready for. They will also be allowed to retain the best score,” the NCF stated. The choice of subjects in classes 11 and 12 will not be restricted to streams such as Arts, Science, and Commerce. Students will get the flexibility to choose the subjects.

Education Minister Pradhan also informed the news agency that guidelines for foreign universities to establish their campuses in India will be issued soon. Furthermore, he mentioned the reconstitution of a Central Advisory Board of Education to address the evolving needs of today's education system. The Education and Skill Development ministries are working together to cultivate students who are well-prepared to excel in the contemporary workplace of the 21st century.
