Assam HSLC Result 2026 Date And Time: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) is on track to declare the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination results much earlier than usual. According to local media reports, the aim is to release the outcome before two significant upcoming events: the state’s assembly elections and the Bihu festivities.
The examination commenced on February 10 with the MIL/English paper and concluded on February 27, 2026, with the Assamese paper.
ASSAM HSLC Result 2026: How Many Students Appeared In Exams?
The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) conducted the HSLC Examination, 2026, at 1,046 examination centres across Assam from February 10 to February 27, 2026. A total of 438,565 students appeared for this year's matriculation examination, comprising 190,243 male and 248,322 female candidates.
Following this, speculation is now rife that the Class 10 results might be declared prior to the Bihu festival and the elections; consequently, lakhs of students across the state are eagerly awaiting their results. The evaluation of answer scripts is currently being conducted by 45 evaluation boards. Based on trends from previous years, the Assam HSLC results for 2026 are expected to be declared in April 2026.
Assam HSLC Expected Result Date 2026:
The ASSEB is on track to announce the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination significantly earlier than the usual schedule. According to local media reports, the objective is to release the results ahead of two key upcoming events: the State Assembly elections and the festival of Bihu.
Although the Board has not yet officially confirmed a definitive date, officials have indicated that the evaluation process is progressing at a very rapid pace. During the previous academic session, the results were declared on April 11. This year, the Board is aiming to beat that timeline by a considerable margin.
The 2026 Assam Assembly election will be held in a single phase on April 9, 2026, and the election results will be out on May 4, 2026. This date was scheduled to avoid major disruption to the Rongali (Bohag) Bihu festival, which typically begins in mid-April (around April 14-15), ensuring festivities take place after the poll process.
Record Number of Candidates; Evaluation Nearly Complete:
Nayan Jyoti Sharma, the Controller of Examinations at ASSEB, confirmed that despite handling a record number of candidates, the bulk of the work has already been completed. Sharma told The Assam Tribune, "This year, over 4.38 lakh students appeared for the HSLC examination; the highest number in the Board's history." He added, "It was a monumental task, but approximately 95 per cent of the evaluation process has already been finished."
He further stated that the rationale behind this accelerated schedule is to provide students with an early opportunity to plan their future academic pursuits. "We are fully confident that the results will be declared significantly earlier than last year, ensuring students have ample time to apply for higher education institutions anywhere across the country."
Accelerated Schedule at 45 Evaluation Centres:
To achieve this objective, an accelerated schedule is being implemented across 45 evaluation centres located throughout the state. However, officials have cautioned that the results may ultimately be declared within the first fortnight of April, a timeline that would still be well ahead of last year's announcement date. The HSLC examinations were conducted across 1,046 centres throughout Assam from February 10 to February 27.
Nevertheless, the Board has clarified that the process of finalising the results involves more than just the mere compilation of marks. Several crucial technical stages still remain, requiring meticulous attention. The Board aims to once again outpace the CBSE.
Last year, the ASSEB declared its results ahead of the CBSE, and the Board is keen to replicate that same efficiency. By taking the initiative to release the results early, officials hope to alleviate student anxiety and enable them to plan their next academic steps without any hindrance.
