CAT 2024 Answer Key: Here's How To Calculate Score And Percentile
Step 1: Determine the total number of candidates (N) who appeared for CAT across all sessions—morning, afternoon, and evening.
Step 2: Assign ranks (r) to candidates based on their scaled scores in the QA section. Candidates with identical scaled scores will share the same rank.
For example, if two candidates achieve the highest scaled score in the QA section, both will be assigned a rank of 1. The next highest score will receive a rank of 3, skipping rank 2, and so forth.
Step 3: Calculate the percentile score (P) for a candidate with rank (r) in the QA section using the formula: 𝑃 = (𝑁 − 𝑟) x 100 𝑁
Step 4: Round off the calculated percentile score (P) to two decimal places. For instance:
- Percentile scores ≥ 99.995 are rounded up to 100.
- Scores ≥ 99.985 but < 99.995 are rounded to 99.99, and so on.
