CBSE Board Exam 2024: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams from February 15, 2024. The board has not yet released the detailed exam schedule for both classes. As per media reports, the exam is expected to end on April 10, 2024. Once the board releases the detailed date sheet, it will be available on the official CBSE website at cbse.nic.in and will also distributed among different schools.
To make the students understand better and make them prepare well for the examination, the board has already released the sample papers and the marking scheme for the 2024 board exams. These can be found on the board's academic website at cbseacademic.nic.in.
CBSE Board Exam 2024: Marking Scheme
The details of the sample paper and marking scheme for social science theory in class 10 are as follows:
- Time allotted: 3 hours
- Maximum marks: 80
- There are six sections in the sample question paper – A, B, C, D, E and F – and a total of 37 questions. All questions are compulsory.
- Section A, which is questions 1 to 20, contains MCQs of 1 mark each.
- Section B or questions 21 to 24 are very short answer type questions carrying 2 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 40 words.
- Section C (Q. 25 to Q.29) has short answer type questions, carrying 3 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 60 words.
- Section D contains questions 30 to 33 (long answer type questions) carrying 5 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 120 words.
- Section-E - questions from 34 to 36 – are case-based questions with three sub-questions and carry 4 marks each. The answer to each question should not exceed 100 words.
- Section F or question no. 37 is map-based, carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from History (2 marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks).
- While there is no overall choice in the question paper, internal choices have been provided in a few questions.
As per the past trends, The CBSE 10th and 12th practical exams for mountain regions are anticipated to take place in December 2023, while those for the rest of the world are anticipated to take place in January 2024.
