CBSE Board Exams 2024: The Class 12 physical education syllabus for 2023–2024 from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) consists of ten units. The 2024 CBSE Class 12 board exams will start on February 16. The official website, cbseacademic.nic.in, has the comprehensive physical education Class 12 CBSE 2023–24 syllabus.
The date sheet 2024 for CBSE Class 12 will be made available soon at cbse.gov.in by the board. There will be an internal assessment of thirty points and a theory exam worth seventy marks in the physical education paper.
CBSE Board Exams 2024: Class 12 physical education weightage
The physical education exam for Class 12 is weighted according to the following units:
- Management of sporting events: 5 + 4
- Children and women in sports: 7
- Yoga as a preventive measure for lifestyle disease: 6 + 1
- Physical education and sports for CWSN: 4 + 4
- Sports and nutrition: 7
- Test and measurement in sports: 8
- Physiology and injuries in sport: 4 + 4
- Biomechanics and sports: 10
- Psychology and sports: 7
- Training in sports: 9
CBSE Board Exams 2024: Class 12 physical education unit-wise syllabus
The physical education curriculum for Class 12 CBSE 2-23-24, broken down into units, is as follows:
- Unit 1:
a. Functions of sports events management (planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling).
b. Various committees and their responsibilities (pre, during and post).
c. Fixtures and their Procedures – knockout (bye and seeding) league (staircase, cyclic, tabular method) and combination tournaments.
d. Intramural and extramural tournaments – meaning, objectives and significance.
e. Community sports programme (sports day, health run, run for fun, run for a specific cause and run for unity).
- Unit 2:
a. Exercise guidelines of WHO for different age groups.
b. Common postural deformities-knock knees, flat foot, round shoulders, lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, and bow legs and their respective corrective measures.
c. Women’s participation in sports – physical, psychological, and social benefits.
d. Special consideration (menarche and menstrual dysfunction).
e. Female athlete triad (osteoporosis, amenorrhea, eating disorders.
- Unit 3:
a. Obesity
b. Diabetes
c. Asthma
d. Back pain
e. Arthritis
f. Hypertension
- Unit 4:
a. Organizations promoting Disability Sports (Special Olympics; Paralympics; Deaflympics).
b. Concept of Classification and Divisioning in Sports.
c. Concept of inclusion in sports, its need, and implementation.
d. Advantages of physical activities for children with special needs.
e. Strategies to make physical activities accessible for children with special needs.
- Unit 5:
a. Concept of balanced diet and nutrition.
b. Macro and Micro Nutrients: Food sources & functions.
c. Nutritive & Non-Nutritive Components of Diet.
d. Eating for weight control – a healthy weight, the pitfalls of dieting, food intolerance, and food myths.
- Unit 6:
a. Fitness Test – SAI Khelo India Fitness Test in school.
b. Measurement of Cardio-Vascular Fitness – Harvard Step Test.
c. Computing Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
d. Rikli & Jones - Senior Citizen Fitness Test.
e. Johnsen – Methney Test of Motor Educability.
- Unit 7:
a. Physiological factors determining components of physical fitness.
b. Effect of exercise on the muscular system.
c. Effect of exercise on the cardiorespiratory system.
d. Physiological changes due to ageing.
e. Sports injuries.
- Unit 8:
a. Newton’s law of motion and its application in sports.
b. Types of levers and their application in sports.
c. Equilibrium – dynamic and static and centre of gravity and its application in sports.
d. Friction and sports.
e. Projectile in sports.
- Unit 9:
a. Personality; it's definition and types (jung classification and big five theory).
b. Motivation, its type and techniques.
c. Exercise adherence: reasons, benefits and strategies for enhancing it.
d. Meaning, concept and types of aggressions in sports.
e. Psychological attributes in sports – self-esteem, mental imagery, self-talk, goal setting.
- Unit 10:
a. Concept of talent identification and talent development in sports.
b. Introduction to sports training cycle – micro, meso, macrocycle.
c. Types and methods to develop – strength, endurance, and speed.
d. Types and methods to develop – flexibility and coordinative ability.
e. Circuit Training - Introduction and its importance.
CBSE Board Exams 2024: Class 12 Datesheet
The exam date sheet for the class 12 board examinations for the academic year 2023–2024 will shortly be made available by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). As per the media reports, the date sheet for the CBSE class 12 is anticipated to be released by the end of this month or during the first week of December. The CBSE Board Exam 2024 date sheet's official time and date have not yet been released by the board, nevertheless. Candidates can check the CBSE class 12 schedule at cbse.gov.in after it is released. The CBSE Class 12 board exams will start on February 15, as the board has already declared.
