CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026: CBSE Introduces Two-Board Exams, Maximum Three Subjects Can Be Reattempted, Details

CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026: As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the  Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a two-board exam framework for class 10 students starting the academic session 2026. The second board exam will start on May 15 and end on June 1, 2026. Through this, students will be able to improve their scores in difficult subjects or pass the failed subjects.

CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026: How Many Subjects Can Be Reattempted?

The CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bharadwaj, clarified that under this framework, students can appear for only three subjects for improvement of their scores. Candidates must select these three subjects diligently for which they need to reappear, as no further chances will be given by the Board. They must note that they will not be allowed to reattempt more than three subjects. 

CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026: Which Board Marks Will Be Considered?

In reply to this question, the  CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bharadwaj, said, “the better score in the two examinations will be considered for computation of final result." Highest marks in either of the two board exams will be considered final.
