CBSE Exam Marks Distribution Scheme 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notice on its official website at cbse.gov.in regarding the marks distribution scheme for the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The notice concerns that schools sometimes commit mistakes while uploading marks in respect of Practical, Project and Internal Assessment online on the portal.
The practical examination will be held from January 1, 2026 to February 14, 2026. Students should note that there school teachers assess internal exam for Class 10 and external visitors come for Class 12 assesment.
CBSE in its notice has stated that schools sometimes make mistakes while uploading marks in respect of Practical/Project/Internal Assessment (IA).
The circular mentions maximum marks allotted to each subject is 100 with marks distribution among theory, practical, project and IA components.
Board in its notice has mentioned that it is expected that schools should complete Practical Exam, Project / IA within scheduled time frame to avoid any inconvenience to students at later stages.

CBSE 2026 Board Exams: Guidelines for Smooth Conduct
The CBSE notice states, "To assist schools in the smooth conduct of practical/project/internal assessment and theory examinations, a list of subjects for Classes 10 and 12, including the following details, is enclosed with this circular for information so that schools read this circular and strictly follow the instructions and do not request corrections later by making various excuses."
The CBSE has shared the marking scheme for all the subjects for which students will appear in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in 2026.
Detailed Marking Scheme and Examination Logistics:
It details the class, subject code, subject name, maximum marks for theory examination, maximum marks for practical examination, maximum marks for project evaluation, maximum marks for internal assessment (IA). Whether an external examiner will be appointed for practical/project evaluation, whether practical answer sheets will be provided by the board, and what type of answer sheets will be used in theory examinations.
