Delhi Government Scholarships: In a significant step towards improving access to educational support for marginalized communities, the Delhi government has cleared 52% of the pending scholarship applications under various SC, ST, and OBC schemes within the last three months. This was confirmed by Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj during a high-level meeting held on Thursday.

These cleared applications include multiple key scholarship schemes such as the Tuition Fee Reimbursement Scheme for 2023-24 and 2024-25, Chief Minister Vidyarthi Pratibha Yojana, Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Topper Award, Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships, Merit Scholarships for College and University Students, and Financial Assistance for SC students studying abroad.

Minister Indraj stated that efforts are underway to make the scholarship process more efficient. The Delhi government is currently working on developing a dedicated online platform to streamline the application and verification process, reducing delays and improving transparency for applicants.

The announcement was made following a review meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat, where Indraj met with Vice Chancellors and senior officials from major universities in Delhi. The discussions focused on ways to strengthen the implementation and outreach of scholarship schemes for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

In his remarks shared on X (formerly Twitter), Indraj noted that the cooperation of educational institutions is essential for effectively promoting scholarship opportunities. He directed officials from the SC/ST/OBC Welfare Department to engage more actively with institutions to ensure that deserving students benefit from the schemes.

He also highlighted the issue of non-functional hostels for SC/ST students, attributing it to administrative negligence in the past. Indraj assured that the Delhi government is working towards reviving such hostels to provide safe and affordable accommodation for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

This move comes as a step toward making higher education more inclusive and accessible in the capital, ensuring that financial hurdles do not stand in the way of academic progress.
