Delhi Nursery Admissions 2026: Thousands of parents have been waiting eagerly for this day. The admission list for the nursery, KG, and Class 1 over 1,700 private schools across the capital will be released this Friday (January 23). Parents can check the merit list on the notice boards or the official websites of the respective schools. 

However, the release of the first list presents parents with the significant challenge of making the right decision at the right time. School managements and principals suggest that if a child's name appears in the first list of any school, it would be wise to secure that seat. Failing to do so and relying solely on subsequent lists can often prove to be disadvantageous.

A large pool of parents has applied for Delhi Nursery admissions this year. Many of them have applied to five to seven schools, and some to more than ten. In such a scenario, most children will likely get an opportunity in one school or another. Principals have advised parents not to wait solely for admissions in prestigious and well-known schools. If a child's name appears in the first list, they must secure the seat.

What Scores Are Required To Secure A Seat?

School authorities state that the points awarded based on criteria such as Neighborhood (Distance), Sibling (brother/sister in the same school), and Alumni (parents as former students) will determine the final admission. 

In some schools, a seat might be available at 40 points, while in others (high-demand schools), admission may only be possible with 70 points or more. As soon as a parent secures a seat in one school, their applications in other schools are automatically withdrawn/vacant, creating opportunities for other children on the waiting list.

School Management Advisory on Category-B Schools

School managements are advising parents regarding 'Category-B' schools (mid-tier schools). They suggest that if a child’s name appears in the first list of such schools, it should not be taken lightly. Securing the seat immediately is a safer option, as parents often skip the first list in hopes of a "better" school, only to find that opportunities have dried up by the time the second list is released.

Grievance Redressal and Future Lists

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has provided a window from January 18 to January 27 for parents to contact schools to resolve admission-related queries. School principals emphasize that there is no need to lose hope if a child's name does not appear in the first list. Many children successfully secure admission during the release of the second list and subsequent waiting lists.
