Delhi Schools News:  The Delhi education department has instructed that all government, government-aided, and private schools resume regular schedules from today, January 6, 2024.

"In view of the improved weather conditions in Delhi, all govt, govt-aided, and recognised private schools of Delhi shall resume their normal timings w.e.f. 06.02.2024 (Tuesday)," reads the official order.

The directive instructed school administrators to inform staff, parents, and students about the changes in schedules via suitable means of communication.

Earlier, due to the extreme cold and fog in the nation's capital, the Education Department had changed the hours of operation, mandating classes to start no earlier than 9 am and end by 5 pm.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Sunday's maximum temperature in Delhi was 20.3 degrees Celsius, which is marginally below the seasonal normal. It occurred after slight morning rains. At 11.9 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature remained three notches higher than the seasonal average, as per IMD records. Delhi experienced light rain from 5 am to 8 am, resulting in an accumulation of 3 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours until 8:30 am. The IMD predicts additional rain and moderate fog during nighttime. Humidity peaked at 83 percent around 5:30 pm.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) was 282, categorising the air quality as 'poor' at 7 pm. AQI readings range from zero to 500, with values of 0-50 classified as 'good', 51-100 as 'satisfactory', 101-200 as 'moderate', 201-300 as 'poor', 301-400 as 'very poor', and 401-500 as 'severe'.
