Delhi University has officially launched a four-year undergraduate program as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This initiative marks a significant shift in India’s higher education system, offering flexible learning, interdisciplinary education, and enhanced student opportunities. The Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022 facilitates this transition, introducing a structured academic path with multiple entry-exit options and a focus on research and employability.
Dean Bharat Rampani confirmed that 64 DU colleges are fully aligned with this new structure. Principals across colleges have praised the university’s collaborative efforts, highlighting strong administrative preparedness and active faculty involvement in successfully rolling out the new curriculum.
College Infrastructure and Student Interest Strongly Support the New System:
Principals from Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, Ramanujan College, and PGDAV Evening College confirmed their institutions are well-equipped. DCAC Principal Rajeev Chopra stressed the affordability and academic depth the four-year model brings, especially when compared to global options. At Ramanujan College, over 70% of students have shown interest in pursuing the fourth year due to improved career prospects. The college has expanded teaching hours and invested in libraries and laboratories to meet student needs.
Principal R.K. Gupta from PGDAV College Evening detailed their infrastructural upgrades, including newly built porta cabins and modern classrooms. He affirmed the university’s supportive role in facilitating the transformation.
This shift, which revisits the previously dropped 2013 four-year model, reflects India’s commitment to NEP 2020's holistic goals. With colleges fully prepared and strong student enthusiasm, Delhi University is setting a new standard for academic excellence and employability in India.
