DU and JNU Colleges Closed News: In response to Delhi's worsening air quality, Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have transitioned to online classes to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
Delhi University announced that all classes would be conducted online until Saturday, November 23, 2024. Regular in-person classes are scheduled to resume from Monday, November 25, 2024. According to an official notification, the university stated, "The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi & NCR has deteriorated to an alarmingly high index. In the larger interest of students of the Colleges and the Departments of the University of Delhi, it has been decided that the classes shall be conducted in Online Mode till Saturday, November 23, 2024."
"Regular classes in physical mode to resume from Monday, November 25, 2024. The schedule of Examinations and Interviews shall remain unchanged," further added.
The university also clarified that the schedule for examinations and interviews remains unchanged.
Similarly, JNU confirmed that online classes would continue until Friday, November 22, 2024. The university reassured students that ongoing exam and interview schedules would not be impacted by this shift.
The Delhi government has described the worsening air quality as a "medical emergency" and urged institutions to implement preventive measures to safeguard public health.
Delhi's severe air pollution has been attributed to unfavorable weather conditions and stubble burning in neighboring states. Schools and colleges across the National Capital Region (NCR) have already moved to online classes, highlighting the urgent need for measures to tackle this escalating crisis.
